Registration has opened for the international conference on cybersecurity to be held in Baku.

The 9th International Annual Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Computer Emergency Response Teams (OIC-CERT), titled “Uncovering Future Threats,” will be held from November 6–9, 2017, at the Holiday Inn hotel. The conference is planned to take place over four days. The first day of the event will begin with a closed session for the OIC-CERT Board of Directors meeting. On the second day, panel discussions and presentations will be held for 200 participants, including 100 local and 100 international experts.

The panel discussions and presentations will cover four main topics:

Session 1: Hidden Figures – Origin of the Threats (Management)
Everyday evolving attack technologies are a growing concern for everyone. In addition to detecting these emerging and constantly evolving threats, questions arise about the readiness of companies, institutions, and individuals to respond. This session will discuss new threat sources, including threats originating from social media.

Session 2: Against the Dark Arts (Technical)
Cybercriminals use various technologies to exploit security vulnerabilities across platforms such as mobile and applications. Bitcoin and blockchain technologies are rapidly developing as new financial platforms that pose hidden risks to users. Current cybersecurity protection focuses on establishing perimeters around potential victims and assessing damage to prevent attacks. This session will examine the history, behavior, mechanisms, and infrastructure of attacks, and discuss different approaches to reducing cyberattacks.

Session 3: Yellow Brick Road (Policy and Process)
Technological advancements such as cloud computing and the Internet of Things introduce numerous new threats and vulnerabilities that may give hackers an advantage in future information security challenges. New technologies can blur the distinction between cyber and physical attacks that cause psychological harm. This session will discuss new countermeasures, management strategies, and security solutions to address these emerging challenges.

Session 4: Shedding the Lights (Management / Technical / Policy and Process)
What is the best way to uncover future threats? Will sharing intelligence on cyber threats significantly improve internal cyber defense methods? Will real-time consultations be possible? How skilled are hackers, and how harmful are the malware tools they use? This session will explore the opportunities for information sharing to mitigate future threats and address current pressing issues in the field.

On the third and fourth days of the conference, special training sessions on information security will be held for groups of 70 participants, including 35 local and 35 international experts.

Those interested in participating in the conference can register through the conference’s official website. Selected participants will receive an invitation 15 days prior to the conference. The official language of the conference is English.
