A malware infection has been detected on computers at the Executive Authority

As a result of monitoring conducted by the Security Operations Center of the Computer Incident Response Center of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service, with the aim of ensuring the information security of state institutions, malware infection was detected on several computers used at the Kazakh District Executive Authority.

During the on-site investigation of the incident, the Malware Research Laboratory inspected the workstations, identified the method of infection spread, and collected malware samples. Security vulnerabilities and deficiencies in the information system were identified, an audit report was prepared, and it was submitted to the Executive Authority together with recommendations for remediation.

At the end, training on “Best Practices in Cyber Hygiene” was conducted for representatives of the Executive Authority by employees of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service. The training covered current topics such as safe internet usage, password policy, phishing attacks, and recently observed cyberattack methods and vectors. The Special Communication and Information Security State Service also provided detailed information on the work being carried out to improve the level of information security in state institutions. In conclusion, participants’ questions on the topic were answered.
