Joint statement of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Through posts shared on several fake social media accounts, a video address allegedly made in the name of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. İlham Aliyev, encouraging citizens to invest in the country’s banking sector has been circulated. It is hereby stated that the mentioned video address was created using “deep-fake” technology and is a fabricated piece of content that does not reflect reality.
We call on society to rely only on information provided by official sources and would like to remind that the official website and social media accounts of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan remain active as reliable sources of information and continuously provide timely coverage of the Head of State’s activities.
We urge Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and public activists to always demonstrate principled positions against such cases and to remain vigilant in an environment where campaigns based on false and fabricated information are becoming widespread.
It is being ensured that appropriate measures are taken regarding the mentioned false and fabricated video address created using “deep-fake” technology, as well as its source.
