Azerbaijan has been elected as a member of the Board of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Computer Emergency Response Teams (OIC-CERT) for the next term

The Computer Incident Response Center (CERT.gov.az) of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the elections held for the Board of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Computer Emergency Response Teams (OIC-CERT) at its 11th General Meeting. The meeting was held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
According to the results of the elections, the Computer Incident Response Center (CERT.gov.az) of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service was once again elected as a member of the Board for a new four-year term.
At the General Meeting, in accordance with the activity plan for 2023–2024, reports on the work carried out by the Secretariat and member states of the Board were heard, agenda items were discussed, and new members were announced. A representative of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service, Murad Balayev, provided detailed information about the activities carried out by the Computer Incident Response Center (CERT.gov.az) under the 4th strategic direction led by Azerbaijan, namely the field of “Technology and Engineering.”
The meeting also highlighted the International Conference on Cyber Diplomacy held in Azerbaijan. The hosting of such a prestigious international event for the first time in the region was highly appreciated by the Board. It was emphasized that such events are of great importance in terms of the role of cyber diplomacy in information security, and that this area will have a special place in the organization’s international cooperation activities.
For information, it should be noted that OIC-CERT was established with the aim of ensuring the security of the global cyberspace and developing the international cybersecurity capabilities of CERT centers of Islamic countries. The organization has 66 members from 29 countries. The Special Communication and Information Security State Service has been successfully representing our country as a full member of the organization on the Board for 8 years.
