Significant measures have been taken throughout 2024 to ensure the information security of government institutions
Throughout 2024, as a result of measures taken by the Special State Service for Communication and Information Security, a total of 814,370,000 malicious attempts to access government information resources via the "AzStateNet" network were blocked. Additionally, through a centrally installed antivirus system on end-user devices, 4,480,400 malicious files were detected and blocked, and 195,082 malicious electronic documents were blocked using the "Sandbox" protection system. Furthermore, using cyber intelligence capabilities, 100 fake domains resembling government domains were identified and blocked during the year.
In 2024, analysis of cyberattacks by the Service identified 1,069 cyberattack indicators. Blocking these indicators prevented specially targeted APT cyberattacks against government institutions. Of these cyber threats, 550 were detected through the Service's monitoring efforts, and 520 were identified based on requests from government agencies.
During this period, the government electronic mail service established by the Special State Service for Communication and Information Security processed 30,255,757 emails, of which 28,142,767 were successfully delivered to users, and 2,112,990 were identified as malicious and subsequently blocked.
Also in 2024, audit inspections and monitoring conducted by the Service revealed security vulnerabilities in 857 government information resources. Relevant notifications were sent to the respective government institutions to eliminate these vulnerabilities. For comparison, in the same period of 2023, audits and pentests identified security gaps and deficiencies in 553 government information systems, which were then addressed accordingly.
