The Special Communication and Information Security State Service (SCISS) participated in the “CyberKumbez” competition

A delegation from the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) participated in “KazHackStan 2025” in Almaty, Kazakhstan, one of the largest cybersecurity conferences in Central Asia. The KazHackStan conference annually brings together cybersecurity specialists, government institutions, and business representatives from the Central Asian region. As part of the program, technical sessions and panel discussions were held covering various topics, including “Government & Business Day,” “Secure Development Day,” and “Hack Day.”

The SCISSS delegation took part in one of the main highlights of the event—the “CyberKumbez” competition. The competition was conducted in a simulated ‘Smart City’ environment using real infrastructure scenarios in a Red Team vs. Blue Team format. In this format, Blue Teams monitor, record, and document attacks carried out by the Red Teams. Among the Blue Teams competing against 25 Red Teams, the “AzCyberDefense” team from Azerbaijan achieved 3rd place. This was Azerbaijan’s first participation in this international challenge, and securing third place demonstrated the country’s growing cybersecurity capabilities and the high professionalism of its young specialists.
