The SCISS has started training sessions at the newly inaugurated laboratory
The Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) has launched advanced training sessions at the “Information Security Testing” laboratory, established at the Baku Higher Oil School, aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of employees working in the field of information security within state institutions.
In the initial phase, based on requests from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Facilities of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOMDA), the SCISSS assessed the knowledge and skill levels of personnel working in the field of information technologies in these institutions. The assessment was conducted through computer-based tests and oral interviews, covering key areas of information technologies, including computer networks, network equipment, protocols and services, information security, and data storage.
Based on the overall assessment results for both institutions, a two-week training program was launched at the newly established “Information Security Testing” laboratory at the Baku Higher Oil School to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the respective specialists. To ensure accessibility for all employees in the relevant fields of these institutions, the training is conducted in both in-person and online formats.
The training sessions are organized in accordance with the “2023–2027 Strategy on Information Security and Cybersecurity of the Republic of Azerbaijan” and are designed to implement a personnel development model based on practical skills.
This initiative is part of SCISSS’s systematic efforts to strengthen human capital in information security within state institutions, enhance operational preparedness of personnel, and ensure cybersecurity resilience in critical areas.
It should be noted that the “Information Security Testing” laboratory, newly established by SCISSS at the Baku Higher Oil School, serves not only as a resource for students, faculty, and researchers at the university but also as a key infrastructure element for creating a practical cybersecurity training environment for state institution personnel.
