SCISS demonstrates the role of cybersecurity in developing sustainable cities at WUF13
Within the framework of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) is represented with a dedicated exhibition stand.
At the stand, forum participants are introduced to presentations and interactive simulations demonstrating the critical role of cybersecurity in ensuring urban resilience in smart and digitally transforming cities. The showcased solutions highlight the strategic importance of protecting information systems amid the increasing integration of digital technologies into all aspects of urban life.
The simulations presented at the stand visually demonstrate the potential impact of cyber threats targeting transportation, communications, energy, and other critical services. The presentations illustrate that cyber incidents within a digital urban ecosystem are not merely technical issues, but factors that can affect the continuity of municipal services, public safety, economic activity, and citizens’ trust in digital services.
During a visit to the stand, Major General Allahveran Ismayilov, Deputy Head of the Service, was briefed in detail on the scenarios and interactive simulations being showcased. It was noted that the presented solutions were developed based on the Service’s extensive professional experience in protecting state information resources and critical information infrastructure, as well as on the knowledge and expertise gained through continuous monitoring and analysis of cyber threats. It was further emphasized that the simulations not only visualize potential risks and their possible consequences in increasingly digitalized cities, but also demonstrate the importance of proactive cybersecurity measures and cyber resilience.
Major General Allahveran Ismayilov was also provided with a comprehensive overview of the services delivered by the Service at the WUF13 Network Infrastructure Control Center, including the continuous monitoring of network infrastructure, cybersecurity oversight, and efforts aimed at ensuring the stable and uninterrupted operation of digital services throughout the forum.
Through its participation at WUF13, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service once again underscores that cybersecurity is one of the fundamental prerequisites for resilience in modern and digitally transforming cities. The secure and uninterrupted functioning of smart cities depends directly on the reliable protection of their digital infrastructure.
