A memorandum on cooperation was signed between the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCIS) and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU).
The signing ceremony of the memorandum was attended by the head of the State Service, Lieutenant-General Ilgar Musayev, the Rector of AzTU, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, and representatives from both sides.
The Rector informed about the work done at AzTU, especially the innovations regarding cyber security. He said that in order to contribute to the information security of the state, the Institute of Cyber Security and the Chair of Cyber Security were opened at AzTU. AzTU is interested in cooperating with SCIS for the training of students studying in this specialty as highly qualified personnel.
In his speech, the head of the SCIS State Service, Lieutenant General Ilgar Musayev noted that ensuring information security in the globalized world has become a priority issue at both the national and international levels. In addition, it was noted that, in addition to providing state institutions with a secure internet network, the security of the data center is ensured by keeping more than 600 state information resources and an e-mail service serving 30 thousand state institution users. As a result of the measures taken, security gaps were detected in 159 state information resources during the last quarter and appropriate measures were taken to prevent them, 732,000 malicious e-mails targeting employees of state institutions were prevented from being delivered to state bodies, and in order to ensure the information security of state institutions, AzstateNet state network during the third quarter It was brought to attention that 81 million malicious links, 873 thousand harmful viruses, and 83 thousand virus-containing files were blocked.
In his speech, Ilgar Musayev emphasized that in accordance with the task of President Ilham Aliyev on the development of this field, the project of the National Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Information Security and Cyber Security for 2023-2026 has been prepared and its approval is expected by the end of this year. The head of the service said that "Scientific research, education and provision of highly qualified staff" is envisaged as one of the priority directions of the Strategy and the benefits of cooperation with educational institutions, including AzTU, in this regard.
