A republican scientific and practical seminar "CERT services: cyber threats and methods of protection against them" was held.

As part of the “Cybersecurity Week”, on 14 March 2019, the Republican Scientific-Practical Seminar entitled “CERT Services in the Republic of Azerbaijan: Cyber Threats and Protection Methods” was held through the joint organization of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, the Special State Protection Service, and the Institute of Information Technology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). The main purpose of the event was to discuss the achievements and future objectives of CERT services operating in the country, information exchange among relevant institutions regarding cyber incidents, prospects for international cooperation, and issues related to integration with relevant international structures.
At the event, speeches were delivered by Elmir Valiyev, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies; Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, Academic Secretary of ANAS and Director of the ANAS Institute of Information Technology; and Azer Ahadov, Deputy Head of the State Agency for Special Communications and Information Security under the Special State Protection Service. The speakers provided information on the measures undertaken to raise awareness among private and other organizations in the field of cybersecurity, promote an information security culture, protect information processes, safeguard information resources and systems against potential threats, and enhance the overall national level of preparedness in the field of cybersecurity.
The seminar continued with presentations by Faiq Farmanov, Head of the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, on “The Areas of Activity of the Electronic Security Service (www.cert.az)”; Associate Professor Yadigar Imamverdiyev, Head of Department at the Institute of Information Technology, on “The Evolution of CERTs: New Trends and Challenges”; and Tural Mammadov, Head of Department at the State Agency for Special Communications and Information Security under the Special State Protection Service, on “The Activities of CERT.gov.az in Combating Next-Generation Threats and the Presentation of the Newly Established Blacklist.gov.az Service.
