The next meeting of the Information Security Coordination Commission has been held

The next meeting of the Information Security Coordination Commission was held on December 17 of this year. Opening the event with a speech, the Chairman of the Information Security Coordination Commission and the Head of the Special Communications and Information Security State Service, General-Lieutenant Ilgar Musayev, provided information about the work carried out by the Special Communications and Information Security State Service in the fields of information technologies and cybersecurity in our country.
In his speech, General-Lieutenant Musayev also highlighted several key events in the information security sector this year, including the first-ever international Cyber Diplomacy Conference held in our country, the establishment of the Cyber Diplomacy Center, the approval of the "Model Regulations for State Information Resources and Systems," and the list of Critical Information Infrastructures.
The Chairman of the Commission discussed the approval of the list of Critical Information Infrastructures, emphasizing the significant responsibilities and workload this imposes on both the critical information infrastructure subjects and the agencies responsible for supervision, such as the State Security Service (DTX) and the Special Communications and Information Security State Service (SCIS). He also spoke about the need for serious regulatory measures in this field starting next year, including strengthening oversight of compliance with requirements, launching a registry, and implementing several actions in this area.
Following this, the Commission began discussions according to the agenda. The meeting addressed the consequences of using unlicensed software in state institutions, as well as the operations carried out by a cybercriminal group recently uncovered by the Special Communications and Information Security State Service, which infected computers both in the country and in state institutions. The importance of using centralized essential software, including antivirus solutions, in state institutions was also discussed.
The implementation of the "Azerbaijan Republic’s Information Security and Cybersecurity Strategy for 2023-2027" was reviewed, and the criteria developed by the working group for monitoring and evaluating the progress of this strategy were presented. Additionally, discussions took place around other suggestions from state institutions related to information security, including topics such as the Government Cloud, the IAMAS system, the Electronic Government Information System, and ensuring licensed software in state institutions.
During the discussions, members of the Coordination Commission, including Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, General-Lieutenant Ismet Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, Deputy Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, General-Lieutenant Zaur Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Ceyhun Salmanov, Academician Rasim Aliyev, Head of the Defense Ministry's Main Directorate, Colonel Vasif Khalilov, and senior representatives from the Central Bank, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, AzInTelecom, and IRIAs were present as well.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman thanked the members for their active participation in the discussions, emphasized the importance of documenting the discussed issues in the meeting protocol, and sending letters to relevant state institutions regarding certain raised matters.
