Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan awards outstanding students in the field of cybersecurity at Azerbaijan Technical University

In the spring semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) organized a new competition at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) to assess the cybersecurity knowledge of undergraduate and graduate students.

Based on the results of the competition, Tural Salimov and Orkhan Eminbayli, third-year bachelor's students majoring in Information Security at the Faculty of Information and Telecommunication Technologies, and Rena Sadigova and Aytaj Agayeva, second-year master's students specializing in State Information Systems Security at the University’s Institute of Higher Education, were declared winners for their outstanding performance.

The award ceremony was attended by Major General Allahverən Ismayilov, Deputy Chief of the SCISSS, Professor Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of AzTU, as well as other representatives. During the event, speakers emphasized the importance of cooperation between government institutions and educational establishments, highlighting that preparing young professionals in the field of cybersecurity is one of the country’s strategic priorities.

It was noted that the initiatives implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between SCISSS and AzTU play a crucial role in turning students’ theoretical knowledge into practical skills and in strengthening the human resource potential of the cybersecurity sector in the country. As part of the memorandum, SCISSS has created opportunities for students of AzTU's undergraduate Information Security program to participate in practical training activities.

Later, representatives of the SCISSS visited the University’s modern educational infrastructure, including laboratories jointly established with the Service to enhance material and technical resources, as well as modern classrooms for communication and telecommunications, advanced technologies used in innovative teaching methods, and the accumulated experience in the field.
