An awareness-raising event dedicated to the fight against narcotic substances was held at SCISSS
A meeting dedicated to the topic “The Harm of Drug Addiction to Society and Human Health” was organized at the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In addition to the personnel of the Service, Billur Mammadova, the Chairperson of the “Youth Anti-Narcotics” Public Union, also took part in the event.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the “State Program on Combating the Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and Their Precursors and Drug Addiction for 2019–2024” and aimed at raising awareness of the Service’s personnel on the subject. As an invited expert, Billur Mammadova emphasized that drug addiction is one of the serious social problems of modern times affecting all of humanity, and that its primary victims are adolescents and young people.
Then, B. Mammadova provided detailed information on the risk factors associated with drug use, the stages of drug addiction development, the characteristics of psychoactive substances, and their harmful effects on health. She noted that drug abuse and illegal trafficking have become widespread on a global scale in recent years and have had a negative impact on the social and psychological environment and the economy. In this regard, the necessary legal framework, relevant organizational structures have been established in our country, and national programs have been developed and implemented.
Mammadova also highlighted that the fight against drug addiction and the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances has become one of the most important issues facing our state. She gave information about the targeted, consistent, and urgent measures taken by the government in combating drug addiction and the illegal circulation of narcotic substances.
