A ceremony dedicated to Constitution Day was held at Special Communication and Information Security State Service (SCISSS). The event was organized within the framework of the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025.
It should be noted that the current Constitution, adopted 30 years ago through a nationwide referendum, is the first Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan following the restoration of its independence.
Along with the personnel of the SCISSS, Professor Cabi Bahramov, head of the “History of Western Azerbaijan” department at the A. A. Bakikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), was invited to the event.
In his speech, Professor Bəhramov noted that the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan defines the legal foundations of independent statehood, plays an important role in ensuring human rights and freedoms in the country, and in shaping the governance system based on democratic principles. He also emphasized that the Constitution adopted in 1995 under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev marked a turning point in the history of Azerbaijani statehood and laid the groundwork for the establishment of national sovereignty, political stability, and the rule of law.
Subsequently, C. Bahramov provided the event participants with detailed information on the systematic reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the improvement of state governance in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the enhancement of citizens’ welfare, and the strengthening of the country’s positions on the international stage.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the goals and objectives of declaring 2025 as the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” in our country.
Events like this organized by the SCISSS serve to foster respect for the fundamental values of national statehood and the development of legal thinking among officers.
