A master class was held by the Special Communication and Information Security State Service (SCISSS) for students of Baku Business University.

Sabina Tagiyeva, an employee of the Computer Emergency Response Center of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service (SCISSS), conducted a master class for students of Baku Business University on the topic “Cyber Defense Ecosystem: Proactive and Reactive Functions of SOC Teams.” The master class was organized within the framework of the “Memorandum of Cooperation” signed between the SCISSS and Baku Business University.

The master class covered topics including the multi-layered model of cyber defense, SOC maturity levels based on the NIST CSF, the differences between proactive and reactive defense approaches, as well as the optimization of SOC operations based on real incident examples. During the presentation, advanced approaches, practical applications, and current trends in the field were introduced to the students, and in-depth analytical discussions on relevant issues were conducted.

In the practical part, the execution of a security scenario for detecting and investigating an RDP Brute Force attack was demonstrated. In this section, it was practically shown how SOC analysts should approach the incident, including log correlation, IP reputation analysis, behavior-based analysis, and the implementation of measures to contain the attack.

The Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan considers active participation in initiatives that contribute to the sharing of knowledge and experience, as well as the sustainable development of the field, to be one of its priority directions.
