The 1st Summit of IT executives of the State Institutions was held today at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with the organization of the State Service ofSpecial Communication and Information Security. The event was prepared in accordance with the plan of events within the framework of “2023 – Year of Heydar Aliyev” and dedicated to the International Safe Internet Day on February 7. 73 government agencies participated in the event dedicated to the exchange of field experiences and joint assessment of threats to information security of state agencies.
The deputy head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security , Major General Allahveren Ismayilov, who opened the meeting with his opening speech, greeted the participants and said that we were shocked by the news of the death, injuries and destruction of many people as a result of the earthquake that occurred in Turkey on February 6. He expressed his condolences to the people of Turkey on behalf of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security regarding those who died during the earthquake and announced a minute's silence to commemorate those who died during the earthquake and wished a speedy recovery to injured.
In his speech, he stated that the International Safe Internet Day was celebrated on the 7th of February each year starting from 2004 at the initiative of the European Commission. The initiative's main objective is to promote safe use of the Internet and strengthen the information security of government agencies against existing threats.
At the meeting, Tural Mammadov, the Head of Department of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security, spoke about the work carried out in the direction of information security in state agencies, the preventable cyberattacks, new cyberattacks and the steps taken to effectively deal with them, evaluation criteria and statistical indicators relating to the activities of state agencies in the direction of information security.
He also informed the participants about the new platforms developed by the Special Communications and Information Security Service for the use of government agencies - the new generation of SOC system built to more effectively deal with cyber threats, the new electronic mail service and its capabilities, the expanding AzStateNet network, the new "share.gov.az" service, which was created as a "wetransfer" alternative for the protection of exchangeable government data from leakage, and the "SIM3" project, which was developed jointly with the European Open CSIRT Foundation.
Later, the manager of the region of Palo Alto Networks Kurshad Demirsoy, head of the Department of Information Resources and Technologies of the National Assembly Shahin Hasanov, General Manager of the Digital Technologies and Innovation Development Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Bayramali Nazarov made presentations on the security risks and struggles that can arise in enterprises with the use of Active Directory.
The event ended with a discussion of new threats, their solutions, and the challenges facing government agencies.
